Harpo’s School of Tourism and Hospitality along with Asha Trust (Sri Lanka) conducted F&B classes for the second batch of students who passed out in F&B service and received their certificates recently.

13 students enrolled and nine completed the three month course which also included industrial training in city hotels.  Eight young men and one woman received their certificates at a simple but very happy ceremony. It was encouraging to note that all 18 from the first batch have now found work – most of them in the hospitality sector. This training program is a lot more than teaching skills, it opens up a new world for many of these young people, building confidence and self-esteem, enabling them to believe they are worthy of a job.

Harpo Gooneratne, Managing Director of Harpo’s School of Tourism and Hospitality along with Asoka Jayawardena, Director, and Neil, who led the training, together with Steve and Katherine of Asha Trust, UK and Sri Lanka were present on this occasion held at the Asha Trust office in Dehiwala.
