Serendib Leisure Management recently announced that all four Serendib Leisure Hotels; AVANI Bentota Resort and Spa, AVANI Kalutara Resort, Club Hotel Dolphin and Hotel Sigiriya, have received the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence award.

The accolade, which honours hospitality excellence, is given only to establishments that consistently achieve outstanding traveller reviews on TripAdvisor, and is extended to qualifying businesses worldwide. Approximately 10% of accommodations listed on TripAdvisor receive this prestigious award.

To qualify for the Certificate of Excellence, businesses must maintain an overall rating of four or higher, out of a possible five, as reviewed by travellers on TripAdvisor. Additional criteria include the volume of reviews received within the last 12 months.

Serendib Leisure Management Director Sales and Marketing Suranjith de Fonseka said: “We are pleased to receive the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence for all four of our hotels, which shows consistency across all our properties. We strive to offer our customers a memorable experience, and this accolade is evidence that our hard work is translating into positive traveller reviews on TripAdvisor.” TripAdvisor for Business President Christine Petersen said: “TripAdvisor is pleased to honour exceptional businesses for consistent excellence, as reviewed by travellers on the site. The Certificate of Excellence award gives highly rated establishments around the world the recognition they deserve.”

Serendib Leisure owns and manages a range of hotels and resorts in several strategic tourist locations within Sri Lanka. From the golden sands of Bentota and Waikkal, and the unique beauty of the Kalutara peninsula, where the river meets the sea, to the exotic jungle retreat of Sigiriya, Serendib Leisure’s portfolio of four unique hotels capture the essence of Sri Lankan hospitality.

AVANI Bentota Resort and Spa, located on the best beach strip along Sri Lanka’s western coastline, is a designer hotel offering the ultimate in elegance and the inimitable Dutch-colonial charm. AVANI Bentota Resort and Spa was originally designed by the renowned Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa, and went through a recent refurbishment under the guidance of one of his protégé’s Murad Ismail. The resort consists of 75 rooms and suites ensconced within a distinctive frangipani garden, and offer the ultimate in a relaxing beachside holiday.

Surrounded by water on three sides, AVANI Kalutara Resort (formerly known as Kani Lanka Resort and Spa) is situated in a unique habitat in the middle of lush greenery, and is surrounded by water. This 105-roomed hotel has a choice of three room types, two restaurants, two bars and a heavenly spa. Club Hotel Dolphin Waikkal is the place for action and fun. A 151-roomed sprawling property spanning 14 acres, it offers guests the best of both worlds through action-packed fun and entertainment, whilst at the same time, affording them relaxation and pampering as well. The hotel was rated by TripAdvisor as the seventh best family hotel in Asia in 2010, and has been awarded the Holiday check award for 2012 and 2013 as well.

Hotel Sigiriya is for the nature-culture lover and the eco-buff. For a perfect mix of the splendour of nature and culture, there is nowhere quite like Hotel Sigiriya. Situated in an eight-acre garden of verdant trees, teeming with leaping monkeys, chirping birds and flitting butterflies, overlooking the spectacular Sigiriya Rock, and just four hours away from the capital city of Colombo. All four of these unique properties are owned and operated by Serendib Leisure, a subsidiary of the blue-chip conglomerate Hemas Holdings, one of the leading public-quoted companies in Sri Lanka.
