Overseas travel just got more simplified and even more hassle-free with the recent introduction of the Seylan Traveller’s Card, a pre-paid Visa accredited card from Seylan Bank. Issued in US dollars, Sterling Pounds, Euros, Saudi Arabian Riyals and Australian dollars, the Seylan Traveller’s Card enjoys worldwide acceptability at over 30 million merchants across the globe and 2.2 million Visa accredited ATMs. This unique travel companion replaces the traditional option of carrying cumbersome foreign currency in cash, and, the once-favoured travellers’ cheques. It all comes in a handsome Travel Card, where one can choose from five foreign currencies to load the travel card for instant use in any part of the world. Senior Deputy General Manager Retail Banking, Tissa Nanayakkara said, “We at Seylan Bank are proud to offer this Sri Lankan first to our millions of fellow citizens. Unlike in the past, the frequency of overseas travel grows rapidly with every passing day. With foreign currency being a critical and indispensable part of overseas travel, we’ve designed the Seylan Travellers’ Card to ensure that a traveller has a trouble free journey with all of his or her foreign currency securely stored in our Traveller’s Card.” This Seylan Travellers’ Card is easily available to both Seylan’s customers and even non-customers. It offers free cash withdrawals from ATMS around the world. Added to this are instant SMS alerts one receives after each transaction. It brings with it a pin-protected web access for balance inquiries and checking transactions and offers free medical insurance of USD 50,000/-. It can be loaded with a minimum of US$100 and a maximum of US$15,000. Chief Manager Cards, Nimesh Fernando said, “The Seylan Travellers’ Card is indeed a boon to the business traveller who wants to concentrate on the purpose of his journey and not on the safety of the cash in his wallet. It also brings the same peace of mind to the thousands of Sri Lankan students studying abroad. It can be given to students overseas for tuition and living expenses with their parents or guardians having the easy option of regularly reloading the card from Sri Lanka. Holidaying abroad has also never got so pleasurable than with the use of the Seylan Travellers’ Card with the sheer convenience and peace of mind it brings holiday makers.” Quite unlike ‘Travellers Cheques’ (which will fast go out of circulation), this Card does not require a commission or proof of identity to obtain cash or purchase goods and services. Once purchased, the Card minimises the exposure to currency fluctuations. Seylan Bank takes the convenience of its Travellers’ Card to the next level by also issuing an additional card for use in the event of the primary card being lost or stolen. Hence the reinforced security feature of this novel card. Once loaded, foreign currency is held to the card holder’s credit indefinitely. It is valid for six years, replaceable free of charge and reloadable on each overseas visit. “The response has been encouraging. Judging by the feedback we’ve had in the past few days, the Seylan Travellers’ Card has undoubtedly become an instant hit among the thousands of Sri Lankans who’ve opted for this Card. Seylan is indeed gratified to have come to the fore and made overseas travel even more convenient and secure,” Nanayakkara concluded.
