SilkAir to fly to Bandung, Changsha in October

SilkAir, the regional wing of Singapore Airlines, will add two new destinations to its network come October 2011.

Scheduled passenger services to Bandung, Indonesia will begin on 11 October 2011, with scheduled passenger services to Changsha, China beginning on 31 October 2011, the latter subject to regulatory approvals.

The Bandung flights will operate three times weekly on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays with Airbus A319 aircraft. This will increase to five times weekly during the Northern Winter season that takes effect from 30 October 2011.

Changsha will be served by three weekly services on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays with Airbus A320 aircraft. Detailed flight schedules are listed in the Annex.

“Bandung and Changsha are the 37th and 38th destination respectively in the SilkAir network. We are truly excited to see our network expanding further.

Earlier this year, on 28 February we started scheduled services to Pekanbaru, Indonesia and on 1 August to Kolkata, India. This will be followed by Koh Samui on 27 September,” said Chief Executive SilkAir, Marvin Tan.

“Asia looks set for further growth and SilkAir, as the regional wing of Singapore Airlines, is well placed to meet the rising demand for air travel in the region. Both Bandung and Changsha have something to offer everyone, whether you’re travelling for leisure or business,” he added.
