SL Tourism at Beijing International Tourism Expo

Beijing International Tourism Expo (BITE – 2016) is an annual event which was held from 20 to 22 May this year at the National Agriculture Exhibition Centre in Beijing, China.

In connection with the BITE travel fair SLTPB organised two Tourism Promotional Road Shows in Tianjin and Shenyang on 18 and 24 May in order to create an effective and efficient platform for networking between the two countries travel trade.

The Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau together with the local travel industry participated at this travel fair with in an area of 200 square meters. This has been identified as a unique opportunity for the global travel trade to meet, network, negotiate and conduct business.

SL Tourism was able to educate the public through distribution of brochures, DVDs and promoting tour packages during the general public day, conducted interviews with media and travel agents and promoted Sri Lanka as one of the best tourist destinations, conducted a business networking session with the Sri Lankan travel industry participants and the hosted buyers by the organiser.

The Sri Lanka Tourism pavilion won the ‘Most Popular Pavilion Award’ at the Beijing International Tourism Expo.

Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau focused to promote Buddhist tourism in Thailand

Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) has organised a familiarisation tour of Sri Lanka for two journalists from Thailand to increase destination awareness and promote Sri Lanka as one of the key destinations for Thai tourists. ‘Travel around the World’ Magazine journalists arrived in Sri Lanka on 8 June.

‘Travel around the world’ also known as Thew Rhob Lok is a monthly publication with a wide circulation around 50,000 among Thai nationals.
