The Sri Lanka Association of Inbound Tour Operators (SLAITO), the apex body for inbound tourism, which handles approximately 90% of all inbound tourists in the organised tourism sector, congratulated Maithripala Sirisena on being elected as the Executive President of Sri Lanka at the recently-concluded presidential elections and extended its best wishes as he takes on the responsibility of leading our nation.
SLAITO said it was pleased to note that the polling in the seventh presidential election was concluded in a relatively peaceful manner, conducive to strengthening the democratic process and noted with appreciation the commitment of the President to good governance as highlighted in his manifesto.
Further, SLAITO said it viewed the results of the recently-concluded election as a clarion call for unity and harmony amongst our communities and the need for a shared vision amongst them to ensure sustainable long-term security and stability of the country. It added that it also looks forward to the continued growth of tourism as a major contributor to economic growth under the leadership of President Maithripala Sirisena.
