The training wing of Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB) carried out a full-day training program in Jaffna covering both tourism and MICE tourism. The program was conducted on 26 March in association with Northern Hoteliers Association at the Green Grass Hotel. Over 60 participants took part in the training and they were representing hoteliers, tour operators and some final year students in Tourism at the University. The trainers represented SLCB CEO Vipula Wanigasekera, former SLTDA DG and Golden Isle MD Paddy Paul and SLCB Manager Research and Training Iyroshi Jayawardena. The program covered the current status of tourism globally and locally, MICE potential, operational elements of incentive travel and how to build competitive edge through creativity. “It is timely,” said Wanigasekera. “Jaffna is fast raising her head in tourism and it is necessary for us to offer them such training to provide a superior service particularly in incentive sector for which there is a great potential in Jaffna.”
