Education and professional training help us with many things, but most importantly, they empower an individual to think, question, and see beyond the obvious. Human beings are born with a natural tendency to question. Education is the best way to satisfy our curiosity, without extinguishing the burning desire to learn and explore more. The grim reality is that many of the youth who dream of pursuing studies in an area of their choice are held back by the daunting task of pocketing exorbitant course fees. The cost of living and rising inflation have affected almost everyone. Most people can hardly afford the basic necessities! This reality gives rise to the question: is education a luxury or a necessity? Is pursuing a career in Hospitality Management a possibility or a dream? For those who do wish to pursue a career in this field, the world renowned Colombo Academy of Hospitality Mana-gement (CAHM) which is affiliated to the William Angliss Institute, Australia is a popular choice. The state of the art facilities, the skilled lecturers who are experts in their individual areas have resulted in the Academy being reputed as one of the best, both nationally as well as internationally. Innovative student loan with a leading commercial bank in Sri Lanka With the view that education is a necessity and that everyone should have equal eligibility to an educational program of personal choice, CAHM has joined hands with a leading commercial bank in Sri Lanka to introduce for the first time in Sri Lanka, a Student Loan scheme that does not burden parents as it can be paid back in installments in six years after completing the course of study. The Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management which is a two year program is priced at Rs. 850,000. Out of this sum, 75% is available through the loan scheme that is renewable each semester. At a concessionary interest rate of 10% interest. During the study period (two years) the student will have to only pay the interest which come to less than Rs 1500.00 per month! Upon completion of the program, the loan is repayable at a fixed interest rate of 12%, with a repayment period of six years.  This amounts to approximately Rs. 13,000 per month over six years. CAHM said this is indeed a great benefit to Sri Lankan students whose parents are battling against financial challenges. It is a progressive model that is worthy of replication by other private educational institutes, affiliated to foreign institutes offering tertiary level education in Sri Lanka. Colombo Academy of Hospitality Management at SLIIT is enrolling for their August 2014 intake, for a limited number of places.  For admissions and more information, please call 077 007 0109, 077 880 0368 or 240 77 80, visit the website www.cahm.lk and follow them on www.facebook.com/williamanglisslk.
