The nation’s premier directory, Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) Rainbow Pages, has collaborated with the Western Province Tourist Board to launch a ‘Negombo Tourist Directory’ to mark World Tourism Day 2012.
The Negombo Tourist Directory was launched in CD format and carries information about hotels, places to stay, places to see, vehicles for hire and any other information a tourist might need. Negombo is a popular tourist haunt and this directory will facilitate tourism in the area and help travel and trade stakeholders to maximise their presence.
Tourists will find the directory an invaluable source of information on Negombo and all it has to offer. The launch of the ‘Negombo Tourist Directory’ in collaboration with SLT Rainbow Pages formed a vital component of World Tourism celebrations in Sri Lanka.
The event was attended by Claude Thomasz, Chairman, Western Province Tourist Board, Malraj Balapitiya, CEO, SLT Rainbow Pages and PEO TV, Prasanna Ranathunga, Chief Minister, Western Province, Nimal Lanza, Minister of Road Development, Animal Production and Development, Housing and Construction and Fisheries and Tourism for the Western Province.
This year’s World Tourism Day was celebrated under the theme of ‘Tourism and Sustainable Energy: Powering Sustainable Development,’ set by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation. This year’s theme aims to highlight tourism’s role in a brighter energy future, a future in which the world’s entire population has access to modern, efficient and affordable energy services.
This year was the 33rd anniversary of the UNWTO World Tourism Day. The Western Province Tourist Board has scheduled several programs this year in collaboration with industry stakeholders.
The SLT Rainbow Pages Negombo Tourist Directory is a treasure trove of practical and useful information that will be accessible to tourists and industry stakeholders in and around the Negombo area. The directory is the only classified directory publication in the country to provide a comprehensive directory service.
The SLT Rainbow Pages Directory information can be accessed from the call centre on 1231, or by calling 444 on Mobitel, Dialog or Etisalat numbers, 4636 on Hutch numbers, on Directory CD, Peo TV or via the website www.rainbowpages.lk. By offering such wide accessibility, SLT Rainbow Pages is moving closer to its vision of becoming customers’ number one choice for information.
