SLT Rainbow Pages unveils Sri Lanka’s first comprehensive tourist directory

Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) Rainbow Pages, the country’s sole directory publisher, unveiled two unique new niche directory products recently at the Hilton Colombo, that aims to promote local and foreign tourism in the island in keeping with the Government’s endeavour to make Sri Lanka the tourist hub of South Asia.

In line with the Government’s initiative to promote Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Sri Lanka, SLT Rainbow Pages have developed a wide range of innovative products such as a print directory, a directory CD, a 24-hour call centre service, web portal, mobile web, an e-directory and mobile apps for both Android and Apple phones, providing tourists easy access to directory information from anywhere.

Marking the distribution launch, a copy of the SLT Rainbow Pages Tourist Directory was presented to the Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa at the official launch ceremony.

Speaking at the event, SLT Rainbow Pages and PEO TV CEO Malraj Balapitiya said: “The new tourist directory will cater to the immense information needs of tourists and with the Government’s plan to attract 2.5 million tourists to the country, it will provide the essential information that tourists would need to experience the right attractions in the country.”

Accordingly, SLT Rainbow Pages will be releasing a total of 22,500 copies of the 500 page directory island-wide targeting all hotels, corporates and the public and will contain information on climate, customs regulations, fauna and flora, national parks, beaches, travel tips, adventure sports, events, hotels and many more catering to diverse needs and interests of all visitors to the island.

Rainbow Pages also unveiled yet another unique ICT-based hotel e-directory which will enable both the local and foreign tourist community to find any hotel in Sri Lanka based on location at their fingertips and also makes it possible to make bookings directly through the links provided to the hotel websites.

SLT Rainbow Pages General Manager Ruwan Wijetunga highlighted the features of the tourist directory print version and the hotel e-directory. He also reiterated that SLT Rainbow Pages has always been committed to innovation with the introduction of cutting-edge novel products to serve the needs of the country’s development plans.

Sri Lanka Telecom PLC Chairman Nimal Welgama, SLTPL Director Shameendra Rajapaksa, Sri Lanka Telecom PLC Group CEO Lalith de Silva and Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority Chairman Bhashwara Gunarathna were also present at the occasion.
