Sri Lanka made a strong statement at Tokyo’s biggest travel and tourism fair – JATA Tourism Expo – with some cutting-edge below-the-line marketing activities.
This included exhibition site, display and merchandising, media interviews and PR articles on Sri Lanka as a ‘must visit in one’s lifetime’ destination, said the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotions Bureau in a communiqué.
Sri Lanka Tourism Promotions Bureau Chairman Rohantha Athukorala said: “Leaders of the Japanese tourism industry and Government are thinking big. They want the JATA Tourism Expo to be the prime event in the world for this global industry, which is excellent due to the strong partnership Sri Lanka has with the conference organisers. But what we need is to get into social media which is the in thing among potential travellers.”
