SriLankan Airlines expands its presence in the North Central Province of Sri Lanka by opening its latest passenger sales office in Anuradhapura in a bid to capture a larger share of the local travel market. The office was declared open on 20 May by Chief Minister North Central Province Peshala Jayaratne.
The branch office will facilitate travel procedures to a large clientele in the Anuradhapura district, which includes handling of reservations, ticketing, Prepaid Ticket Advices (PTAs), requests for special services, information on fares, and packages – essentially offering the same sales services carried out by any authorised SriLankan Airlines office.
This is the ninth SriLankan Passenger Sales office to be added to its network of regional offices, currently established at Jaffna, Hambantota, Vavuniya, Wennappuwa, Gampaha, Trincomalee, Aluthgama and Batticaloa.
SriLankan has appointed Travel Care Global Ltd, which is specialised in handling Buddhist Pilgrim Tours to India, to handle airline ticketing, reservations, outbound holidays and inbound tour programs.
Addressing the gathering, SriLankan Airlines Head of Worldwide Sales Lal Perera said, “As the national carrier, SriLankan strives to make its products and services readily available throughout our island. The strategic positioning of our new ticketing office in Anuradhapura is an important distribution channel that offers seamless services, reaching more potential customers and thereby increasing our overall business. This will undoubtedly be a profitable market for us.”
Considering the growing customer base for air travel to and from the region, the passenger sales agent operation will increase the size of the airline’s local consumer base in the area. Anuradhapura with many historic attractions for in-bound tourists, has huge potential for tourism and the opening of the PSA at this point in time is an opportune move for the airline.
The Anuradhapura PSA Office is located at No. 522/1-C, Maithreepala Senanayake Mawatha, Anuradhapura; Tel: 0252225400. It will be open from 8:15 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and from 8:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturdays (except on Sunday mercantile and Poya holidays).
