SriLankan Airlines has unveiled oneworld priority signage at its Colombo hub, Bandaranaike International Airport and Male, its extended home market.

The new signage aims to provide the alliance’s top tier, frequent flyers a comprehensive and clear idea on the alliance’s benefits throughout the travel process – check-in, airport fast tracks, lounges and boarding. The oneworld priority system works on a three tier basis: Emerald, Sapphire and Ruby which will correspond to FlySmiLes frequent flyers top levels: Platinum, Gold and Classic. For example, a FlySmiles Platinum cardholder will receive all the benefits of the Emerald oneworld frequent flyers. These new oneworld priority signs will clearly feature the three-tier gemstone symbols to enable cardholders to identify quickly and easily where they are entitled to receive their special oneworld benefits.

SriLankan Airlines became a member of the oneworld alliance in May 2014, making it the first airline from the Indian sub-continent to join a global airline alliance. Since then, the airline has been offering its passengers a convenient and simple travel experience with access to over a thousand destinations in 155 countries. The partnership with oneworld benefits top tier members of FlySmiles frequent flyer program giving them special privileges and rewards.

The new logo will appear on signage wherever special airport privileges are offered to the alliance’s top tier frequent flyers. For FlySmiLes Platinum and oneworld Emerald tier card holders, benefits include: First Class or Business Class check-in desks, fast track through security checks at selected airports, the use of lounges when flying internationally and priority boarding lines. All these are available even if the customer is not booked to fly in First or even Business class.

The privileges for FlySmiLes Gold and oneworld Sapphire members include: Business Class check-in desks, lounge access and priority boarding lines. These are available even when flying Economy Class.

FlySmiLes Classic and oneworld Ruby tier card holders are eligible to use Business Class check-in desks, which are again valid even when booked to fly in Economy Class.

Last year the process was started to replace signage at over 1,000 airports which are used by oneworld member airlines in 155 countries worldwide.

SriLankan Airlines will be completing its priority branding at Frankfurt, London, Paris, Narita, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Hong Kong, Bangalore, Chennai and Doha Airports in June this year.

As a member of oneworld, SriLankan Airlines flies alongside some of the leading and elite brands in the airline business such as Air Berlin, American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Qatar Airways, Iberia, Japan Airlines, LAN, Malaysia Airlines, Qantas, Royal Jordanian and S7 airlines.
