Successful MICE promotion in KL

Adhering to the policy of promoting emerging markets, Sri Lanka Convention Bureau and SriLankan Airlines conducted a MICE Tourism promotion in KL which took place at Sheraton Imperial Hotel on 7 August 2014. The promotion was attended by a large number of MICE buyers in Kuala Lumpur and other main cities. The Sri Lankan industry participants had the opportunity to establish contacts with their counterparts during the buyer seller meeting. The buyers were shown the MICE potential in Sri Lanka especially in the Corporate Travel and Incentive Travel where Sri Lanka offers most number of attractive locations, new properties and the eastern coast. SLCB was represented by Manager Marketing Kumudu Henendige who presented the MICE tourism developments in the country while SriLankan Airlines Malaysia Country Manager Chinthaka Weerasinghe briefed the audiences on airlines’ plans for the Far East market. The audience was also addressed by the Sri Lankan High Commissioner in Kuala Lumpur and Former Chairman of Malaysia Tourism and Secretary General of Malaysian Tourism Ministry Dr. Victor Wee where Dr. Wee related his own experience experiences of travelling in Sri Lanka. “This promotion is expected to boost the MICE arrivals specially incentive travel from far east with the level of awareness and interest created by the Sri Lanka MICE industry led by SLCB together with SriLankan Airlines,” says Sri Lanka Convention Bureau CEO Vipula Wanigasekera.
