Sustainable water access spotlighted in Arugam Bay

The World Tourism day on the theme “Tourism’s role in water access” shines a spotlight on the actions currently being taken by the sector in order to contribute to a more sustainable water future, as well as the challenges ahead’ organised by the Chamber of Tourism and Industry Sri Lanka in association with the Pottuvil Pradeshiya Sabha was held at Arugam Bay, the famous tourist resort in the Eastern Province on Friday in the presence of large gathering of tourists from various parts of the country.
A ceremony to mark the occasion held at the Arugam Bay vehicle park site was presided over by the Chamber of Tourism and Industry President A.M. Jaufer and was attended by the Pottuvil Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman M.S.M. Waseeth as Chief Guest. Commanding officers from the Armed Forces, Police and STF too associated in the ceremony.The main feature of the program was serving king coconuts to the tourists that attended the ceremony and also to the local tourists who visited Arugambay on the day.
CTISL President A.M. Jaufer and the team also visited the Pottuvil Base Hospital and served king coconuts to the patients who are being treated in the wards of the hospital. Medical Superintend of the Hospital Dr. A.M. Issadeen and the staff of the hospital too participated in the ceremony. Addressing the tourists at the ceremony Jaufer stressed the importance of the day and what it emphasised. He also thanked the tourists for taking the time to attend to this simple ceremony and commented those who cooperated with him to make this event more meaningful.
