Taj Samudra awarded Silver Status by EarthCheck

The high standard of environmental performance practiced by Taj Samudra, Colombo has been recognised by EarthCheck, one of the world’s leading certifiers of travel and tourism organisations. Taj Samudra, Colombo has joined industry leaders from more than 65 countries by being awarded the EarthCheck Silver Certified status. To gain this, Taj Samudra had to report their environmental footprint to independent auditors and adhere to internationally recognised standards of best practice. During the process, the hotel was also required to submit a year’s worth of operational data which was benchmarked against industry best practice. The data was then measured against a number of key indicators such as energy and water consumption, total waste production and community commitment.
