Taj Samudra wins prestigious Culinary Art Trophy for Best City Hotel in Colombo

Taj Samudra Colombo’s culinary experts won the coveted ‘Culinary Art Trophy for Best City Hotel in Colombo’ at the recently concluded Chefs Guild Culinary Art 2015 exhibition held at BMICH. This extraordinary feat was achieved by the team of culinary experts who won 48 medals including two Gold Excellence medals, six Gold medals, 19 Silver medals and two Bronze medals at the event which was held from 24-26 July. 

The winning team comprised of Taj Samudra’s K.M. Wickramage of the Kitchen Department who won the Gold Excellence award for the ‘Flambé Dessert’ category and K.R.S. Thiranda who won the Gold Excellence medal for the ‘Hot and Cold Finger Food’ category. Amongst the winners were a host of individuals who received more than one Gold medal, with B.A.M.R Perera from the Kitchen Department winning four Gold medals for the ‘Five Course Set Dinner’ and T.H.D.D. Pushpika bagging two Gold medals for the ‘Five Course Set Dinner’ and ‘Plated Appetisers’ categories respectively. Y.C.J. Desilva won Gold for the ‘Vegetarian Three Course Menu’ at the event. The Food & Beverage Department received a total of 11 medals with Pasindu Mendis and Dhanushka Dias of F&B winning two Gold medals. 

This remarkable achievement was duly recognised and complimented by Area Director Sri Lanka and Maldives and General Manager Sarabjeet Singh who commented that the culinary experts’ triumph was a source of pride for Taj Samudra and congratulated the winners on their sensational victory at the event.
