The Hotels Association of Sri Lanka (THASL) in association with Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management (ITHM) will conduct the first of a series of tourism awareness seminars for A/L students in the Negombo region, on Thursday 23 January 2014. Over 100 students from schools in the Negombo, Gampaha and Kiribathgoda regions will participate at this 1/2 day program, which will be held at Jetwing Blue, Negombo.
The program will be very practically oriented to give students an overview of what the tourism and hospitality industry is, the various job and future career opportunities available, especially in the hotel industry.
The President of the Hotels Association, Jayantissa Kehelpannala will give the key note address, while the Past President Srilal Miththapala will co-ordinate the seminar, supported by a Senior Chef, Front Office Manager, House Keeping Manager and Food and Beverage Manager from the Negombo region. After the session, the students will be taken on a tour of the different departments of the hotel, so that they could see for themselves how individual departments of the hotel operate.
