The Wellness & Spa Certificate, presented by the European Audit Institute is a prestigious award, competed for by more than 6,500 hotels across Europe and within the Mediterranean Sea for the same target group of wellness guests expecting premium, luxury service. However this certification is exclusively awarded to Hotels and Establishments that fulfill the requirements of wellness oriented guests and the stringent European Audit Institute of Wellness & Spa (EAWS) quality standards.
The EAWS was founded in April 2008 with the integration of wellness experts and wellness organisations from Germany, Austria and Switzerland and remains as the only publicly sworn, non-profit expert to award this niche category. All certification procedures of this organisation are supervised by Dr.med. H.J. Schemeisser MBA and are undertaken independently without any partiality. The Kingsbury bags this prestigious award for its spectacular services offered at its tranquil inner sanctum – ‘Senses Spa’.
Stands tall and proud
The hotel stands tall and proud in the satisfaction of having won this second illustrious international award in just less than a year since setting foot into business. It is noteworthy that The Kingsbury also procured the World Luxury Hotel Awards this year. The World Luxury Hotel Award is recognised as an accolade awarded to luxury hotels with world class facilities, extending excellent hospitality services to guests. This is a testament to the quality of unparalleled service and indulgence provided by the hotel.
Subsequently it is noteworthy that Amaya Hills Kandy and Langdale by Amaya too won this prestigious Wellness & Spa certification. The audits revealed that the services offered by these establishments were of premium quality. Nestled in the Hill Capital of Sri Lanka, Amaya Hills Kandy is a breathtaking retreat away from the bustle of city life, and its Spa facility is a soul soothing balm.
Similarly, Langdale by Amaya is a cosy hideaway in the misty city of Nuwara Eliya offering its guests a truly tranquilising experience that works like a charm in invigorating the senses.
Senses Spa
Situated in the heart of Colombo, overlooking the calming waves lapping at the shores of the Indian Ocean, The Kingsbury is a true sanctuary of luxury, extending its hospitality to discerning guests who appreciate customised solutions and an indulgent getaway from the general hullabaloo of life.
For those seeking a more relaxing experience, its ‘Senses Spa’ works its charm to soothe one’s soul and rejuvenate tired and tensed nerves. With its array of relaxing aromas, magical oils and heavenly treatments, the Senses Spa specialises in a number of signature rituals that are inspired by and founded on the fundamentals of true Thai treatment.
These dosha-specific reflexologies and treatments addresses specific needs of each individual body type; calming, soothing, rejuvenating and invigorating both the body and the soul. Expert masseuse work wonders kneading the stress away with a range of massage treatments that range from traditional to authentic Thai therapy techniques.
All of these create the figurative mirage in a desert for those who find sanctuary within its folds. It is for this refreshing Spa experience offered by the Hotel that it bagged the Wellness & Spa award presented by EAWS.
Mystery Check
The certification follows a number of procedures to finally award the deserving establishments. Once a wellness Hotel files an application for certification, the audit will be executed in the form of a Mystery Check. For this the auditors visit the establishment on an anonymous basis via regular booking/registration to be able to most efficiently check the usual and day to day standard of the establishment and its services. The examination itself will be carried out according to a strict and standardised 3-5 day testing program, which includes about 850 single criteria.
The Mystery Check concludes with a final one-on-one interview with a representative of the applying party. Finally the audit result is analysed and evaluated according to standardised and statistical procedure that leads to a qualitative numerical result. Some of the main criteria are exceptional and remarkable wellness ambience of the hotel, outstanding wellness offers in furnishing, equipment and treatment quality, and selected variety of Thalasso/Spa possibilities within the premises. The Kingsbury is not only proud to have won yet another International accolade endorsing its exceptional service and hospitality, but with every step higher pledges to elevate the standards of service by redefining the very meaning of luxury.
