A part of the Jetwing family of hotels, the Lighthouse Hotel reported the highest turnover and profits in the hotel’s 15 years since being listed on the Colombo Stock Exchange. Located in Galle, the hotel happens to be the first boutique property in the area and a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World. The entity has recorded a turnover of little over Rs. 614 million for the year ended 31 March 2013; a 14% growth from the previous year.

In addition, profits are over Rs. 100 million, with the Board of Directors proposing a dividend payout of Rs. 92 million. The above figures happen to be the highest in the company’s history, and are forecasted to rise further. Plans are in place to expand the property, and to add a further 22 rooms plus three spa rooms in the next year.

In a statement released to the press, Jetwing Chairman Hiran Cooray reflected on the steady performance shown by Jetwing Lighthouse. “When we first announced our intention to open a luxury property in Galle, we were met with much derision. People thought it will be a failure, as at the time the destination was not a popular one. The past year has brought about the highest figures in the hotel’s history, and I look forward to it rising even higher in the years to come.”

Family owned and in the tourism industry for the past 40 years, Jetwing Hotels has surpassed expectation at every aspect. Building on their foundation of being passionate, as well as the experience of true, traditional Sri Lankan hospitality, constantly pioneering discoveries captures the essence of the brand.

Such a strong statement and direction have enabled Jetwing Hotels to imagine, create and manage marvels and masterpieces, where distinctive design and elegant comfort complement each other and the environment.
