Travel Lanka awarded Best Travel Magazine in Sri Lanka

Travel Lanka has been awarded the prize for the Best Travel Magazine in Sri Lanka, by the Chamber of Tourism and Industry, Sri Lanka. In its 21st year of continuous publication, Travel Lanka is the only regularly updated Tourist Information Book in Sri Lanka, recognised by the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau and widely distributed in the country to serve tourists and stakeholders in the tourism industry.

The award was given at a special ceremony organised jointly by the Chamber of Tourism and Industry – Sri Lanka, and the Ministry of Tourism Industry – Eastern Province, held at the Hotel Pacific Grounds, Arugam Bay, as part of their program to celebrate World Tourism Day 2014. The Chief Guest at the ceremony was Dr. Sarath Amunugama, Senior Minister of International Monetary Co-operation and Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning. Other distinguished guests included Local Government and Provincial Councils Minister ALM Athaullah, Senior Minister for Food Security P. Dayaratne, Minister of Productivity Promotion Basher Segu Dawood and British High Commissioner in Sri Lanka John Rankin. The award to Travel Lanka was presented to Piyarathna Hewabatage, Chairman, Heritage House & Pace Publishers, the publisher of the magazine.
