Turkish Airlines crew touches down at Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo

Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo extended a warm welcome last week to Turkish Airlines, Europe’s Best Airline 2011 and 2012 at the Skytrax Awards.  

The airline has selected Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo as its preferred hotel in Sri Lanka.  Turkish Airlines will host its crew at the hotel and will recommend it to passengers arriving at BIA.  The carrier adds its 98th country and 219th destination to its network by beginning service in Sri Lanka.

The first Turkish Airlines crew of twelve including two captains, a first officer and a flying chef arrived at Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo after their inaugural flight to Sri Lanka.  The crew was greeted by the hotel’s General Manager, Denis Gruhier together with Director of Sales & Marketing, Adrian Jansz, Sales Manager, Ruwani Makalanda and Assistant Front Office Manager, Alex Jayamaha.  The Turkish Airlines crew will stay at the hotel during the five operating flight days Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

As host hotel to crews of many international airlines, Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo offers convenience of location, excellent sleep quality, twenty four hour dining, a state of the art fitness centre and a Crew Lounge exclusively for airline crews for recreation in addition to several other facilities regular travelers on a tight schedule will find convenient.   In addition to its Skytrax awards for Europe’s Best Airline, the carrier has also been recognized as Southern Europe’s Best Airline and for the World’s Best Premium Economy Class Airline Seat in 2011 and 2012.  The airline is also a member of the Star Alliance network which offers more than 21,900 daily flights to 1,329 airports in 194 countries.

The launch of Turkish Airlines flights to Sri Lanka is a step forwards for tourism to the country with further arrivals expected due to connecting flights from other regional airlines as well.
