Weddings, honeymoons and cricket key Lankan promotions at WTM

The Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) yesterday launched its latest theme on Sri Lanka as an ideal destination for weddings and honeymoons at the World Travel Mart in London.

A real life ‘poruwa ceremony’ with an English bride and groom took place at the Sri Lanka Pavilion, in the presence of many top global travel trade partners.

Most of the Sri Lankan hotel chains and travel agents took the initiative in promoting ‘foreign weddings’ featuring Sri Lankan customs and traditions. This wedding ceremony promotion of SLTPB took on a new dimension at the event, with ‘jayamangalaghatha’ and traditional rituals securing pride of place among modern weddings. Sri Lanka Tourism is promoting Sri Lanka at WTM under the main theme of ‘Wonder of Asia,’ whilst enhancing the two sub themes – ideal wedding destination and a destination for cricket.
