  • Mango Holidays to promote upmarket luxury holidays packages to Sri Lanka
Worldlink Travel Group has started a new subsidiary company to promote luxury holidays packages to Sri Lanka. “There are so many small but luxurious hotels in all parts of Sri Lanka; they are on par or better than some of the best hotels in the world. We felt that there is a huge opportunity for us to promote these properties to the high end tourist to Sri Lanka. Mango Holidays would target this segment,” said Ahintha Amerasinghe, Managing Director of the Worldlink Travel Group. Worldlink, which has been in the tourism industry for the past 23 years, is one of the finest travel companies in Sri Lanka. Worldlink Travel Group consists of seven companies each focusing on one segment of the tourism industry. Worldlink Air Services are the agents in Sri Lanka for South African Airways, Princess Cruises, Cunard Lines and Costa Cruises. Worldlink Travel is one of the top IATA ticketing companies, handling the travel of some of the cream of the corporates. Worldlink Tours, the current inbound arm of the group, will continue to work with the global network of travel partners to promote Sri Lanka. Worldlink entered the hotel industry two years ago by opening the 14-room luxury hotel The Amaara Sky Hotel in Kandy. “Within a short period of just 18 months, Amaara was awarded a certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor,” said Danukh Amerasinghe, a Director of the Worldlink Travel Group who handles the Sales and Marketing of The Amaara Hotel. “We are going to start our second Amaara Hotel in Sigiriya, which will be a 20-room hotel,” he added. “With the dawn of peace, so many of the world’s top international hotel chains are opening up in Sri Lanka. This is a great boost to the tourism industry as these international hotel chains too would be using their global hotels to promote destination Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka will be a much-sought-after destination. Mango Holidays is going use a few costly but novel marketing methods to target the high-spending tourists to Sri Lanka. Our very first transaction was a small group of seven people from Canada who will come to Sri Lanka for a holiday. The tour price for each of them is close to $ 2,500 per person and they are staying at some of the best hotels in Sri Lanka. They only wanted excellent quality hotels,” said Ahintha.
