A charity by youth

The students of Batch 40 of ICBT following a degree in Business management organised a corporate training program on the topic of ‘Essentials for individual and organisation success’ which was held recently at Hilton Colombo Residencies. This was a fund raising activity that was carried out under the module of ‘Managing Business Activities to Achieve Results’ in which a non-profit organisation titled ‘REACH’ was formed with the organisations vision Realising Every Action Changes Hearts and the mission of ‘Gathering to fortunate to reach out to those who are less fortunate’. The proceeds of this training program were channelled for the development of Olaboduwa Maha Vidyalaya at Olaboduwa. The Corporate Training Program was targeted for those who aspired to be successful managers and business leaders in the future. The eminent panel of speakers consisted of four top CEOs of four leading companies in Sri Lanka namely John Keells Holdings PLC Executive VP/CIO Ramesh Shamuganathan, Hemas Groups’ Transportation sector Managing Director Kasturi Wilson, Asian alliance insurance CEO Ramal Jasinghe and AIMS (Appointment of International Management Specialists) and Executive Search Ltd. Managing Director Fayaz Saleem. They focused on the essentials to be successful leaders, ideas on the future world in business, effects of technology in the business world, personal experiences on the challenging life, how to make it successful and many other advices and thoughts on the essentials for individual and organisational success. REACH, with a total number of 23 members was headed by Kevin De Silva as the CEO and supervised by the module lecturer Anuruddha Yapa and the Head of the faculty (BM) Rajitha Ranaweera. This has been the first corporate training event organised by the ICBT students at this level and the event was a great success with the contribution of many people.
