For the eighth consecutive year the Adyapana 2013 Higher Education and Career Exhibition will be take place on 4, 5 and 6 October of 2013 at the BMICH from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m, with the participation of universities, education service providers, consultants, specialists and employers. The exhibition is organised by Lanka Exhibition and Conference Services Ltd. in collaboration with reputed institutes in the island.
The purpose of the exhibition is to guide Sri Lankan students who have completed their Advance Level examinations and other students and employees in finding a pathway to fulfil their dreams.
In previous years the exhibition saw the participation of over 250 institutes from 20 different countries. The participants represented reputed universities and large number of private and local professional institutes. Many local private sector and government vocational and technical training institutes also took part, offering a variety of educational alternatives.
St. Thomas’ College Warden Prof. Indra de Zoysa, one of the organisers of the exhibition emphasised the value of a professionally educated labour force in Sri Lanka and its benefits for the economy. “We will poorer if we feed only on oil. Now it is time to recognise the skills and opportunities for labour force,” Proffessor de Zoysa said.
One of the other collaborating partners, STC-OBA Treasurer Shanil Jayasekara said: “Many students who do not succeed in gaining university entry after their Advanced Levels call off their expectations and make no conscious effort to find a path. But this exhibition is very keen to provide career guidance and illuminate new paths for them. They have only to select something among the many alternatives on offer.”
Universities from the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, USA, India, China, Singapore, Malaysia and many other countries that have been recognised by Sri Lankan students over the years as prime education service providers, will be present during the three day exhibition. This will be the only exhibition of its nature in Sri Lanka endorsed by the Australian Trade Commission and where direct participations are involved via the Canadian High Commission and the US Embassy.
Further, the mega exhibition will also feature workshops, seminars, lectures and counselling sessions for all participants on different aspects of education and employment in order to give all visitors the necessary edge in today’s highly competitive corporate environment.
