Lankan born Professor Ananda Gowribalan Vamadeva teaching Maths at University of Cincinnati Ohio USA (www.uc.edu) recently shared his experiences in US with the senior students at Lyceum International School (www.lyceum.lk) Panadura. UC is a globally ranking research university among top 25 research universities in the US. Many Lankan students at UC have performed brilliantly both in academics and at internships through its famed coop system where for certain courses hands on working experience is a must. The visit was arranged by Scholarships for USA Ltd (www.scholarshipsforusa.com) who introduced UC to Sri Lanka in ‘07. As UC’s representative in the island SUSA has placed many students (at UC) in the past. SUSA made maximum use of this rear opportunity by getting Prof Vamadeva to teach Maths to Lyceum students. When asked to evaluate Ana’s teaching the students responded; “We found the session very informative and productive. Some of us found his accent a bit difficult to pick. We felt that he should have been given more time. We would love to have him again.” Principal Malith Kumarasinghe added, “I am so grateful for this opportunity. My children gained so much from Prof. Vamadeva even though for a brief moment.”
