The New Generation College (NGC) located in Melbourne, Victoria in Australia in partnership with ANZ education, is offering Sri Lankan students the opportunity of a lifetime with scholarships worth Rs. 50 million to sit for the world renowned VCE certification which is the gateway to Australian universities.

Aimed at student who have completed their ‘O’ Levels, the Victorian Certificate of Education is the equivalent to the ‘A’ Level certificate. The VCE is internationally recognised and can be used for entry to universities in many countries including Australia, UK, USA, Canada and Hong Kong.

For those wishing to go to Australia, the VCE is a necessary component in the Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank calculation for university admission. Established in 1995, NGC has grown to serve over 1000 students at a number of campuses throughout Melbourne. The school’s location is in the heart of the city and provides a smooth transition to university life.

NGC Foundation Principal Dr. Neil Lennie has over 40 years experience in the education sector and shared that he finds the time is right to set up shop in Sri Lanka.

“I would not risk my reputation, of which I have only one, to bring such an opportunity that I did not see fit. I am extremely passionate about teaching our youth and we try to provide an all round learning experience for our students.”

Dr. Lennie went onto talk about the importance of financial teachings within the school curriculum. It is a topic of debate as to why the children of today, around the world are not taught how to manage their finances. His teaching includes lecturing full-time in Mathematics and Statistics at Swinburne University, teaching Education Administration at Melbourne University and Public Relations and Marketing at Victoria College.

The opportunity is one of the many that they plan to offer Sri Lankan students that may not be in a position to avail of such an opportunity due to financial constraints. Students interested in a scholarship and experiencing life in Australia are encouraged to contact ANZ Education.
