“Working with Mr. and Mrs. Dissanayake has been a wonderful experience. They are extremely committed and passionate and they treat every student as their own child and work day and night to achieve the best for them. It had always been a dream of mine to study in the USA but, my mother was even more determined to send me there for my higher education. It was my mother who found SUSA in the first place through the Education Times and she had been collecting newspaper articles about them since 2008 and was even more determined to meet them. Initially, I wanted to attend the University of Cincinnati but unfortunately the scholarship I received was not substantial and therefore, I had to move on to a different one. “I was disappointed at first but Mr. and Mrs. Dissanayake helped me to find another University which was as good as Cincinnati. They were determined and strong willed and won’t give up without a fight and then they led me towards Iowa State University but, no luck there as well. I received no Scholarship at all and I gave up on the idea of attending University at USA. But before I gave up, they called me over to their house and sat down with me and talked to me like they would so with their own son. They encouraged me not to give up and to keep trying no matter how many times you get knocked down, pick yourself up and keep trying even harder. After a long conversation with them I decided to apply to the University of Toledo.” So said Asian International School’s Arvind Rajendran, who recently became Scholarship for USA’s latest at The University of Toledo in Ohio USA to major in BSc in Engineering. UT has been educating leaders since 1872 offering over 300 courses from bachelors to doctoral with a student body exceeding 23,000. A recent partner of SUSA, UT has the third largest public university operating budget in Ohio and among few schools (in US) which has its own Medical and Law schools. UT is very generous with its scholarships (Arvind received its highest international scholarship), credit transfers for AS and A-Levels where ample part-time work and summer internships are available for international students. Mark Schroeder Associate Director commenting on its association with SUSA stated that UT is very happy working with SUSA resulting in extensive awareness in Sri Lanka for UT and more Lankan stars heading to Toledo. SUSA since ‘01 has been passionately engaged in making US higher education increasingly affordable to the brightest of the nation. They are the only Lankan recruiters who work exclusively with US schools (and only with schools who agree to offer highest scholarships to right candidates), have visited each partnering school and have streamlined the US university admission process to record time. Commenting on AIS’ relationship with SUSA Golbai Gunasekara Director SUSA stated that she has found SUSA to be very dependable, highly professional, very caring and have exceeded her expectations every time. She concluded by saying that many AIS students have benefited considerably in the past through SUSA program.
