Aussie’s La Trobe Uni. expands reach in SL

A senior delegation from La Trobe University (LTU), Australia visited Sri Lanka recently with the aim to further enhance the existing relations between the two countries. Professor Paul Mather, Head of La Trobe Business School – La Trobe University, headed the delegation. Professor Tim Marjoribanks, Head of the Department of Management – La Trobe Business School and Associate Professor Suzanne Young, Director Executive Education – La Trobe Business School, also accompanied him. They visited the country with the aim of engaging with various stakeholders and to create new and improved opportunities for students of both countries through numerous study and exchange programs. Professor Paul Mather said, “La Trobe University’s constant endeavour to engage with key countries in our region and to keep creating enhanced opportunities for students, has brought us to Sri Lanka this year. We have come to Sri Lanka many times in the past and our new offerings should help students from Sri Lanka get maximum benefit from the expertise within La Trobe Business School.” Once again La Trobe Business School, Australia is offering Scholarships worth AUD 300,000 for International students, commencing in 2015. During the visit, La Trobe had planned events with the Industry leaders in Sri Lanka La Trobe Business School and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Sri Lanka hosted a well-attended CEO Forum for CEOs and Directors of leading companies in Sri Lanka. La Trobe experts led the discussion on Responsible leadership and its value to corporate business. The workshop on Strategic Leadership was designed for leaders in the corporate, public, and not for profit sectors and for people looking to move into leadership roles. This workshop offered participants with an opportunity to think critically about strategic leadership and to develop insights into how to further their own and their organisation’s leadership capacities. The event was organised in partnership with the Sri Lanka Australia New Zealand Business Chamber. On the same evening a reception was organised for leaders from industry, university alumni as well as Sri Lankan School Principals and University academics. The Chief Guest at the event was Her Excellency Robyn Mudie, Australian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka. La Trobe University organised a one-day training workshop for its agents to brief them on recent developments at La Trobe including new programs. A one-day exhibition was organised for the prospective students from Sri Lanka to offer them opportunity to meet senior academics from various faculties and receive first hand information on university courses and facilities. They also meet various partner Institutes like the University of Colombo, SLIIT, Australian College of Business and Technology (ACBT) and conducted guest lectures and workshops for their students and faculty members. La Trobe University is multi-campus university based in Victoria, Australia.
