“Bhagya has been a great asset to the Indian Hills Community College,” said Karla McCollum, Director of International Affairs. “Bhagya has not only been a great student but she has contributed to the overall campus community through her involvement in clubs and organisations on campus. We are very proud of her and know she will go on to accomplish great things.”

Bhagya’s next step is to complete a year of Optional Practical Training (OPT).  Bhagya will work for one year in a US company in the Des Moines, Iowa (capital city of Iowa) area before continuing with her education.

IHCC was introduced to the island nation with the maiden visit of Priyanthi Dissanayake of Scholarships for USA Ltd. (SUSA) to Ottumwa in the winter of ‘14. Since then over 10 students from high schools such as Lyceum, Royal Institute, Asian International, Sirimavo, Mahanama, Gateway, Lakeland International have been placed with excellent results.

Everyone who went to IHCC did exceptionally well and Ottumwa had a high regard for the tiny Indian Ocean Island and its academic stars. IHCC continued to shower its highest scholarships and other benefits as Sri Lanka gradually started climbing up on the ladder of international community. What IHCC offered was top quality US higher education at a most affordable cost for the Sri Lankan middle class.

SUSA since ‘01 has been committed to make US education increasingly affordable to bright stars across the island and the boutique operation with one-on-one guidance has placed over 300 students up to date.
