Australian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Robyn Mudie was the Chief Guest for the event.
The convocation drew the participation of 112 students from the Business School of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka. A total of 70 students, who have successfully completed the Master of Business Administration (MBA) and the Master of Project Management (MPM) of the University of Southern Queensland, Australia, were conferred with Master’s Degrees, while 42 students were awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Business and Finance.

Along with the Business School Convocation, the inaugural convocation of the Chartered Tax Advisor program of the CA Sri Lanka Faculty of Taxation was also held where students who had completed the course were awarded Chartered Tax Advisor status.
CA Sri Lanka President Arjuna Herath stated: “As the world continues to evolve, professionals have an important obligation to keep up with the changing local and global trends if they are to achieve success and so both academic and professional education are vital elements to achieve long-term success.”
He added: “This is not the end to your learning experience but the beginning to an enhanced learning experience as you endeavor to be better. So take on new challenges and be brave because you achieve success not by playing safe but by taking on new challenges head-on and by working hard and smart despite the odds.”
CA Sri Lanka Faculty of Taxation Chairman Duminda Hulangamuwa said that CA Sri Lanka has always been at the forefront in offering a multitude of recognised qualifications to the discerning professional and the Chartered Tax Advisor course was one such important initiative launched in 2012 for the benefit of tax practitioners who aspire to obtain a recognised professional qualification in taxation.
“Tax professionals have an important role to play in the development of any nation, and as Chartered Tax Advisors, you are now equipped with the relevant skills to give leadership to other tax professionals while also sharing your insights on various taxation matters relevant to the profession as well as the nation,” Hulangamuwa asserted.
The CA Sri Lanka Business School was established more than ten years ago with a mission to deliver a relevant and innovative curriculum in a supportive learning environment, thereby developing business leaders who create, transform and sustain successful organisations.
