One of Sri Lanka’s foremost tertiary education providers, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) this week awarded a full scholarship to Seshani Dilupamala Gunathilake, who was ranked island first in the commerce stream at the 2012 Advanced Level examination.

At a ceremony held at the Institute’s Colombo 7 premises, Gunathilake was awarded the scholarship by CA Sri Lanka President Sujeewa Rajapakse in the presence Chief Executive Officer of CA Sri Lanka Aruna Alwis, allowing her to follow the globally-recognised chartered accounting course offered by the Institute.   She is a student of Devi Balika Vidyalaya, Colombo.

Congratulating Guna-thilake on her achievement, Rajapakse said that the institute was happy to have onboard an achiever of the calibre of Gunathilake, who would soon be a globally sought-after chartered accountant.

“Our qualification attracts the best and brightest students both from commerce and non-commerce stream and we are pleased to have a high-achiever such as Gunathilake in our mammoth student population who are aspiring to be world class chartered accountants,” he added.

CEO Alwis highlighted that the importance of the institute’s qualification has been showcased with the sheer number of registrations recorded by CA Sri Lanka.

“This year we passed the 40,000 milestone. At present we have an active student base of over 41,000 who are studying for the globally recognized chartered accounting course offered by our institute. Due to the large number of students at our Institute, we are also among the largest tertiary education providers in the country outside the university system,” he added.
