CA Sri Lanka students honoured for accomplishments at annual prize giving

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) recently honoured top students of the Certificate Level, at its annual prize giving, which also saw a total of 25 prizes been awarded to students for their academic accomplishments achieved during the preliminary stage of the chartered accounting course offered by CA Sri Lanka. At a ceremony held at the Institute’s Colombo 7 premises, a total of 250 students were also awarded certificates for completing the certificate level of the globally recognised CA Sri Lanka program on chartered accountancy. Chief Guest at the event, CA Sri Lanka President Sujeewa Rajapakse addressing the prize winners, communicated the importance of their continuing dedication and commitment in studies to become fully qualified globally sought after chartered accountants. While congratulating the prize winners, Rajapakse also touched upon the newly launched Certified Business Accountant qualification offered to part qualified CA Sri Lanka students, which is recognised by both the public and private sectors in the country. He also emphasised on the importance of investing on studies which he noted was a long term investment. CA Sri Lanka CEO Aruna Alwis, Chairman of the CA Sri Lanka Students Training and Development Committee T. Dharmarajah, Chairman of the CA Sri Lanka Examination Committee Jagath Perera and council member J.M.U.B. Jayasekara were also present at the event. Gavel Club Vice President (Education) Buddhi Pathiraja educated the prize winners and students on the importance of the Gavel Club, the student arms of the Toastmasters Club and how the club can help improve the public speaking and leadership skills by being part of the club.
