The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) saw a large number of registrations for their educational workshops at the EDEX Expo Education and Career fair, with over 800 persons registering to be contacted for investor education programs, conducted by the education arm of the CSE. Over 2,000 persons visited the stand to gather information about the investment opportunities available in the Lankan capital market. CSE officials elucidated the process of investing in the stock market through lively presentations which featured a simplified and straightforward explanation of the functioning of the capital market. Many existing investors also visited the stall in order to register for more advanced workshops and discuss their future investment plans. The CSE conducts a number of investor education programs, for potential investors, before they enter the investment landscape. The initiative at the EDEX stall was part of a CSE initiative to ensure a wide awareness of the capital market amongst individuals, as well as to make the public aware that if one makes an informed investment decision, the stock market is an attractive mode of investment. The CSE stall also saw the participation of over 300 persons inquiring about the job opportunities available at Sri Lanka’s only stock exchange. CSE officials promoted employment opportunities available within the capital market industry in order to attract bright and talented job seekers with qualifications and experience in a wide variety of disciplines. The EDEX Education and career fair was held from 17 to 19 January and attracted a number of enthusiastic participants, both young and old. This was the first time the CSE participated at the EDEX Expo and will also have an information booth at the EDEX Expo in Kandy on 24 and 25 at Kandy City Centre.
