DFCC Vardhana Bank felicitates Vardhana Junior Star

DFCC Vardhana Bank (DVB) recently recognised L.G. HasheleeAnuththaraMandara, a Year 5 student from Badulla who ranked third in her District for scoring a total of 186 at the Grade 5 Scholarship Examinations this year.



The bank awarded Hashelee with a special cash donation and a set of valuable books to help her further enrich her education. Hashelee was selected on the grounds of getting one of the highest results in her school, Vihara Maha Devi Balika Vidyalaya in Badulla; the school also boast of having 87students scoring above the District pass mark of 146. A further 168 out of 178 students scored over 100 marks for the exam from the same school.

Hashelee whose parents are both Government Servants is a dynamic student who was presented with the special gift by DVB. Previously winning the Passara Divisional competition for Religious Studies and qualifying to compete in the Badulla District Competitions to be held shortly, Hashelee is a Vardhana Junior Star who endeavours to accomplish notable feats.

Speaking of Hashelee’s achievement, Aruna Dissanayake, Assistant Vice President/Manager Badulla Branch of DFCC Vardhana Bank stated: “We at DVB believe in bringing out the best in children, we are extremely happy that one of our customers from the Badulla branch won this accolade. The team at DVB would like to commend Hashelee on her accomplishments and we look forward to supporting herself and her family with the best banking services in the future.”

Hashelee was felicitated in a ceremony organized by the Principal of Vihara Maha Devi Balika Vidayalaya, Hema Wijekoon, under the patronage of the Minister of Irrigation and Water Management Nimal Siripala De Silva, Manel Rathnayake, Ajith Liyanage and Nimal Rathnayake.

Members of Uva Provincial Council, Anandasiri Godakanda –Zonal Director Education and W.D. Jayathilake –Divisional Director Education also attended the function.

The Vardhana Junior savings account is geared to support and recognise the children of today such as the likes of Hashelee. It is the highest interest paying account in the country for children’s savings which offers a range of services and benefits encouraging children to save. Based on the account balance maintained, Vardhana Junior is also the only children’s savings account that offers a monthly grant for these children to pursue their higher education for a period of three years.

The children’s account additionally awards scholarships to pursue a recognised Computer Diploma Program at the age of 13 years.
