Earn a qualification from Sheffield Hallam and Curtin University from SLIIT

With over a decade of disseminating knowledge and fostering innovation, SLIIT has been recognised as the premier degree awarding institute in the country which provides a broad scope of academic opportunities for students in the fields of Computing, Business and Engineering. SLIIT has now commenced enrolment of students for the degree programs of Sheffield Hallam University, UK and Curtin University, Australia. Both programs, which are UGC recognised universities, will be conducted at SLIIT, by an esteemed panel of lecturers at a fraction of the cost.  

SLIIT and Sheffield Hallam University have been in partnership for many years. Degrees in BEng (Hons) Software Engineering, BEng (Hons) Electronic Engineering, and MEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Sheffield Hallam University (SHU) are three prestigious degrees offered under this partnership, thereby allowing students the opportunity to complete these degrees in Sri Lanka and gain world class degrees from UK. 

The entry requirement for the degree in Software Engineering is passes in three subjects (in any subject stream) at the G.C.E. (Advanced Level) Examination (Sri Lanka/London) in one and the same sitting and a pass at the Aptitude Test conducted by the SLIIT. Electronic Engineering program is three passes at the G.C.E. A/L Examination (Sri Lanka/London) in Mathematics and Physics in one and the same sitting. The MEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering would require, three ‘B’ passes in both Mathematics and Physics in one and the same sitting and a pass at the aptitude test conducted at SLIIT. Students have the option to transfer from BEng to MEng program depending on their performance during the first two years of the course. 

“All programs by SHU are reviewed, moderated and assured for quality by Sheffield Hallam University UK. The Electronic Engineering program will enable graduates to work in many industries that use modern electronic technology. The MEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering degree will give students the opportunity to learn specialised skills such as digital electronics, communications, legal and management modules to develop project management,” commented SLIIT President and CEO Professor Lalith Gamage.

The Curtin University partnership with SLIIT will allow students to pursue the following four year Engineering degree programs; Civil and Construction Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. The admission requirement for the Engineering degrees is three passes, including a credit pass in Mathematics or Physics at the G.C.E. A/L examination (Sri Lanka/London) in one and the same sitting and a pass at the aptitude test.

The SLIIT-Curtin University partnership, also paves the way for students to obtain three year BSc degrees in Information Technology and Software Engineering. To enter these degree programs, students should have obtained three passes at the G.C.E. A/L Examination (Sri Lanka/London) in any subject stream in one and the same sitting. For Software Engineering, students with a grade point average of 2.7 or above after the second year, are eligible to apply for this specialisation.

All degree programs offered by the Curtin University and Sheffield Hallam University require students to secure a pass at the aptitude test conducted by SLIIT which will be held on 18 October at all SLIIT campuses and centres. The degree programs which are offered by prestigious foreign universities and held at SLIIT, give students an added benefit of selecting weekday and weekend study options.
