Aristotle once said: “It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.” Such is the importance education has been given today that many students seek higher education from different parts of the world.

It is almost a foregone conclusion that a sound education is indeed the key to success, and its truth is more so in an era when globalisation and the ever increasing competition is considered part and parcel of the lives of today’s youth.

The event which is organised by the Educational consultants India Limited (EdCIL) will have the support and patronage of the Indian High Commission in Colombo. Presidential award winning exhibition organisers – Lanka Exhibition and Conference Services will partner in organising this event which would help strengthen educational bridges between the two countries.

For years India has been one of the most sought after destination in the sphere of higher education by Sri Lankan students and those within the South Asian family of countries alike.

The relationship in the sphere of education between Sri Lanka and India spans over centuries if not millennia and today this relationship has been taken to different heights. Approximately 1500 Sri Lankan students annually, chose India as the preferred country for their secondary and tertiary education with many thousands more, showing a keen interest in being educated at one of the prestigious institutes within India.

Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka Second Secretary Education Dinesh Udenia is of the opinion that the Indian Education fair will be a one stop shop for all needs and queries of students and parents. “There is a huge demand for education opportunities in India with many students often wanting advice on the systems prevailing in India. Many want to know what the key structures and core structures in the Education system in India is so that they could make the right choice when deciding on their future education. The Indian Education Fair is set to cater to all these inquiries and will be a one stop shop for students who wish to explore the opportunities available in India” he said.

Udenia went on to point out that all institutes that will be present at the education fair are government accredited institutes. “We have ensured that all institutes that will participate in the Indian Education Fair are; in fact government accredited institutes and colleges with a strong academic background. This will erase any unnecessary fear about the quality of education given by these institutes,” he said.

The very fact that students can meet, interact, consult and explore the opportunities for themselves is a key component that the fair wishes to promote.  The student will have the opportunity of meeting representatives from over a hundred colleges and would be given due attention to the students needs and inquiries. LECS Director Imran Hassan is of the opinion that the education fair will provide an ideal platform for a comprehensive educational consultation and will open a door of opportunities for students.

“The fair is in fact one of a kind because it solely focuses on the Indian aspect of it. Our two countries have, from time immemorial, been closely bonded in all spheres and this fair will strengthen those ties. Today a sound education from a recognised institute is a must if we as Sri Lankans are to compete on a global platform and the education fair will provide the idea opportunity in order to achieve this” he said.

EdCIL (India) the event organisers are the only consultancy in the world which offers consultancy and technical services in all aspects of education and human resource development on global basis. EdCIL was conceived and incorporated as a public sector enterprise by the Government of India in 1981 and has executed a large number of consultancy projects across the globe on a wide spectrum of area such as placement of students, secondment/recruitment of Indian experts and faculty abroad, technical assistance, procurement and Institutional Development.

A strong resource base and a professionally competent workforce have been the company’s cutting edge in delivering value addition and quality service mechanisms to its clients.

Thus the partnering of these elements is set to bring in a new dimension to the student population in Sri Lanka. The Indian Education Fair will provide for all educational needs relating to institutes and Colleges in India. It will indeed be the one stop shop for a comprehensive overview on the opportunities that lay beyond the shores of our Island.
