‘Emerging Trends of Employment Laws in Sri Lanka’ to be discussed at Young Members Forum event

The Young Members of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce is planning to hold a seminar to discuss ‘Emerging Trends of Employment Laws in Sri Lanka,’, which will be addressed by the prominent legal expert Dr. Prathiba Mahanamahewa, Commissioner, Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka/Dean of the Faculty of Law, Kotelawala Defence University.

The seminar which is to be held on Monday 13 July, starting at 4 p.m., will cover areas such as ‘Types of Employment’, ‘Employee Misconduct’, ‘Domestic Inquires’, ‘Sub-contract’, ‘Labour Outsource’ and ‘Employee Participation and Involvement’

The main speaker of the two hour event, Dr. Prathiba Mahanamahewa obtained a Degree of LL.B (Hons) Second Class from the University of Colombo and qualified as an Attorney-at-Law in 1994 with a first class Honors in the final examination conducted by the Sri Lanka Law College.

He won the ‘Gold Medal’ for the address he made to the ‘Jury contest in 1993’ organised by the Faculty of Law and leader of the faculty debating team. Dr. Prathiba has also contributed to research and publishing articles in various journals and books, locally and internationally among many of his other achievements.

The Young Members Forum of the Chamber which organises this event is working towards transforming the Lankan youths to be the next generation leaders  going in line with the Ceylon Chamber’s ‘Youth Integration and Engagement Policy’, one of the thrust areas of the Chamber’s short to medium term focus.
