The maiden convocation of the Kingston University, London and ESOFT College of Engineering and Technology was held at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) recently. 20 students who had successfully completed the Kingston University, London and ESOFT College of Engineering and Technology BSc (Hons) in Civil Engineering and BSc (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering were awarded their degrees at this event.

The launch of the ESOFT College of Engineering and Technology in 2013 opened the door for students who had passed the GCE (Advanced Level), but were unable to gain admission to government universities to complete their engineering degree studies, to pursue higher studies without an interruption and achieve their career objectives in life. The ESOFT College of Engineering and Technology is located in the Katubedda area, where the Moratuwa University, well-known locally and internationally as a seat of higher learning in the engineering sphere, is also situated.

The ESOFT College of Engineering and Technology affords the opportunity for students who have successfully passed the GCE (Advanced Level) examination in the Mathematics stream to pursue degrees from two prestigious, world-renowned campuses right here in Sri Lanka. The BSc (Hons) in Civil Engineering and the BSc (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering are awarded by the Kingston University, London and the BEng (Hons) in Electronic and Communications Engineering is awarded by the London Metropolitan University.

Students who successfully complete these degree courses have ample productive employment opportunities in Sri Lanka as well as overseas. The subject matter of the syllabuses of these degree courses have been designed in line with changing global dynamics by incorporating current as well as future challenges in the relevant professional spheres. All these degree programmes are being offered to students at very competitive fees. Students facing financial constraints have the option of obtaining higher education credit facilities from leading banks.

All necessary amenities such as modern equipment, laboratory and library facilities and air-conditioned lecture halls required by students pursuing higher education in engineering are available under one roof at the ESOFT College of Engineering and Technology. Lectures are conducted by an eminent panel of experienced visiting academics with degree level qualifications in their relevant fields.

Students pursuing higher engineering studies are assigned projects in leading private sector engineering companies as part of the practical, hands-on training which is a fundamental factor in this degree program. The practical training they undergo is a big boost to secure gainful employment after they complete their degrees and pass out as graduates.
