First ever EducationUSA South Asia fair comes to Colombo

The first ever EducationUSA South Asia Tour will be held in Colombo on 22 March where 11 US Universities will showcase their higher education opportunities for Sri Lankan students.

Co-sponsored by the US Embassy in Sri Lanka, US-SL Fulbright Commission and Education USA sponsored by the US Department of States, the fair is currently in Bangladesh. Apart from being hosted in Colombo, it will tour in Nepal, Pakistan and finally India before heading back home.



The event, a first in Sri Lanka is expecting 500-700 students at Cinnamon Lakeside, venue for the fair on the above mentioned date. The participating universities are Agnes Scott College in Georgia, Albion College in Michigan, Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey, Idaho State University in Texas, University at Buffalo SUNY in New York, University of Denver in Colorado, University of Iowa, University of Kentucky, University of Northern Iowa and University of Tennessee Knoxville.

EducationUSA Advisor in Sri Lanka for US-SL Fulbright Commission Nelum Senadeera told the Daily FT that two seminars will be held on the day parallel to the Fair.

“There will be a VISA seminar organised by the US Embassy while I myself will host a general seminar on studying in USA. The seminars could be repeated on requests,” Senadeera said.  (CM)
