The initial phase of the project to be implemented under the Mahindodaya program is to cost Rs. 1.7 billion. The project will see the distribution of 62,000 computers and 1,000 notebooks to laboratories in schools. The Government plans to call local companies in the computer field to make bids while schools receiving the equipment have been asked to seek assistance from local suppliers to help with the equipment once the warranty period expires. The Government has appointed a procurement committee assisted by a Technical Evaluation Committee (TEC) to examine the bids.
