The much-anticipated Hameedians Golden Dinner Night will be held 16 September 2012 from 7 p.m. onwards at the Grand Ballroom, Galadari Hotel Colombo.

Organised by the Past Prefects’ Guild (PPG) of Hameed Al Husseinie College, This event will be grace by the presence of respective sponsors, donors, well-wishers and old Hameedians.

Established on 15 November 1884, Hameed Al Husseinie College is the first boys’ Muslim school to be established in Sri Lanka.

Initiated by well-known scholars and prominent personalities of the Muslim community such as Marhoom Sidde Lebbe, Wapichchi Marikar and Orabi Pasha, to protect and safeguard the interests of the Muslim community in its education needs, this school has served as the main contributor of the educational, sports development and extracurricular activities of the children of the Muslim community. Hameed Al Husseinie College celebrates its 128th anniversary this year.

Taking into serious consideration the importance of science as a subject in the present curriculum and the immediate need for a modernised science laboratory for the school, the Past Prefects’ Guild has initiated this event as their first major project for the calendar year 2012. All the proceedings of this event will be utilised for the development and modernisation of the school’s science laboratory.

Hameedians Golden Dinner Night will be a launch pad for Project 16 – a 16 Projects Concept of infrastructure development and modernisation of the college, which will be implemented for the next five years commencing from 2012 and expected to be completed in 2016.

These development activities along with the specially structured education plan, which is implemented at present, will greatly benefit the present and future students in educational, sports, and extracurricular activities.
