Back in 2011, Sasanka Premasinghe Mudiyans was trying to decide where she would attend university.  She heard that Truman State University, in Missouri, had been ranked as the # 1 Public University in the Midwest for 17 years (US News & World Report, ‘America’s Best Colleges,’ 2013). When Sasanka met the Truman International Admissions Coordinator at a college fair in Sri Lanka that year, she knew immediately that Truman was the perfect place for her to study. With the help of the International Student Affairs Office at Truman, Sasanka was able to start an educational journey in a new country. Today, Sasanka says that she is very happy with her choice. “I have built so many skills such as time-management, effective communication, public speaking, analytical thinking, leadership, flexibility, and adaptability. Most of all, I learned how to build a strong personality through humbleness, kindness, and resilience.” Truman State University is a public university located in Kirksville, Missouri, a perfect town for college students. Many restaurants and shops are within walking distance of campus and offer a variety of foods. Whether you’re up for some frozen yogurt, some Chinese food, or some deliciously flavored coffee, Kirksville has it.  It is a small town that offers a lot to students. With an enrollment of approximately 6,250 students, Truman is one of the most academically challenging schools in the Midwest. It is affordable and yet offers a very high quality educational program focused on the liberal arts and sciences.  Truman offers 45 majors and 59 minors as well as 8 select graduate programs. When asked about her professors, Sasanka said, “The professors at Truman are very warm and approachable. They are willing to know every student individually as they give excellent advice to help me achieve my goals.” With the help of small class sizes Truman students truly enjoy the personal attention from the professors.  This is one of Truman’s best characteristics.” “I am so thankful for Truman State University for making me who I am today. I invite many more students to join me and to be a part of this journey for excellence.” Truman State University in Missouri (www.truman.edu) is another perfect US university for Sri Lankans in search of quality US school with most affordable price tag.
