Hiran Serasinghe appointed as Director Operations of Harpo Productions

Veteran hotelier Hiran Serasinghe, who needs no introduction to the hospitality industry, has joined Harpo Productions as its Director Operations, where he will be heading operations of the hotels managed by the company and the recently launched Harpo & Olak School of Hospitality and Tourism Management.

Harpo Productions recently ventured into hotel management having secured the management of the St. Lachlan boutique hotel in Negombo. St. Lachlan consists of 10 deluxe rooms and six suites. Serasinghe says there are more such hotels in the pipeline, scheduled to commence in the near future. The Harpo & Olak School of Hospitality and Tourism Management was launched a few weeks ago. It’s scheduled to commence operations in March this year, offering courses with accreditation to the Confederation of Tourism & Hospitality-CTH (UK) and ‘Indra’ in India.

Serasinghe counts over 35 years in the hospitality industry both locally and internationally having commenced his career as a management trainee at the Oberoi School of Hotel Management in New Delhi. He has held diverse managerial positions at the then Lanka Oberoi, as General Manager of Pegasus Reef Hotel and eventually joined the then Colombo Rennaissance of the Ramada International chain, where he was subsequently appointed as the General Manager.

Serasinghe holds the distinction of being the first Sri Lankan to be appointed as a General Manager of a five-star hotel in Sri Lanka managed by an international hotel chain.

With the boom in tourism expected, Serasinghe with his expertise and managerial experience in his specialised field will undoubtedly make a significant contribution to the revival of Sri Lanka’s hospitality industry. He’s confident of making the hotels and the hotel school under Harpo Productions, the leaders in the industry.
