ICASL and USJ launch Professional Diploma in Computer Based Accounting

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka in continuing with its endeavour to harness financial knowledge and best practice recently launched the Professional Diploma in Computer Based Accounting (PDCBA).

This is a product of a collaboration between ICASL’s IT training division and the Department of Accounting of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

The primary objective of introducing this diploma course is to develop knowledge and skills on computer based accounting environment and related applications. Proficiency in computer based accounting is essential in today’s business environment and would provide one with a distinct competitive advantage in the competitive job market. The Institute believes that their efforts will usher in the development of the knowledge pool of the country by bridging the gap between accounting and IT fields.



The lectures will be held at ICASL IT training division and are scheduled to be commenced in February 2011. The resource panel for this program will include faculty members from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura as well as consultants from the industry.

The Professional Diploma in Computer Based Accounting is a one year course that will be conducted over two semesters encompassing eight modules of study (course units) and a mini project on accounting software development.

Introduction to computer applications, computer based accounting, database management systems, multimedia tools for presentations, integrated computer application for accounting, enterprise resource planning, computer security and integrated web applications for accounting are the modules that will be comprehended in the course.
