ICASL Convocation on Friday

The Annual Convocation of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, which undoubtedly is the most looked forward to event in the academic calendar of the institute, will be held on Friday, 16 September at 3 p.m. at Waters Edge, Battaramulla.

The Chief Guest at the ceremony will be Minister of Cooperatives and Internal Trade Johnston Fernando while the Guest of Honour will be member of the Institute Suresh K. Shah, Chief Executive Officer of Ceylon Brewery PLC and Lion Brewery Ceylon PLC.

ICASL is the national accounting body in the country and is one of the largest professional bodies with over 4,200 members and is also the largest tertiary education establishment outside the university system in Sri Lanka with a mammoth student base of over 36,000.

Chartered accountants are the standard bearers of the accounting profession which is a status that is recognised globally.

This year’s convocation will see 233 graduates who have completed the institute’s qualification, joining a fraternity of 4,300 chartered accountants and 29 senior members of the institute being elevated to fellowship status. A total of 13 prize winners who have fared exceptionally at the 2010 examinations will also receive their awards at the convocation.
