IIHE holds successful Open Day

Education at IIHE

The initiation of IIHE was taken place in 1996 and it has over 15 years of experience as an excellent education provider. IIHE, in collaboration with the University of Wales, provides BSc in Business Management [Hons], BSc in Software Engineering [Hons] and MBA programme.

The education curriculum is the same as what they have in the University of Wales and the students are considered as internal students. Mendis explained that though IIHE provides the educational facilities, the degree is directly awarded by the University of Wales and the student registration number provided is sent by the university. After the completion of the degree the students can visit the University of Wales to attend the graduation ceremony.

Perera emphasised on the strict measures they are adhering on ensuring the high quality level of the education provided at IIHE. The facility itself consist of hi-tech, state of art lecture rooms, three computers labs, a comprehensive library and a lounge area for the students.

The assessments and assignments are supervised and marked by the lecturers approved by the standards of the University of Wales and the students can enjoy a unique study environment at IIHE. The lecturers are selected by the University of Wales.The selection criteria include both academic and corporate experience and the potential lecturers have to go to the University of Wales to face the interview. Twice a year the university representatives come to examine the quality standards of the IIHE.

BSc in Business Management [Hons]

The Business Management degree is a three year full time course. The students have the option to finish the complete degree in Sri Lanka or get a transfer to the University of Wales for the graduation. Mendis said that the course modules are designed with the needs of the corporate world in mind.

Not only the theoretical knowledge but the students receive comprehensive exposure in the practical side as well. The course content also is aimed at developing the soft skills such as business communication, public speaking, debating skills etc. which will help the students immensely by building up confidence.

High employability

One special aspect of the BSc in Management degree is that during the third year, the students are given the opportunity to work along with the corporate giants in Sri Lanka such as John Keells Holdings, Brandix, MAS Holdings, Hayleys Group, Unilever, CIC, etc.

With this ‘real life problem solving’ programme, the students are given various projects by different companies in which the students have to come up with solutions and solve difficult situations. These are live projects and the IIHE students have built up their reputation as strategic problem solvers in the business world. As the students are highly skilled in gathering and analysing data, their innovative ideas have been implemented most of the time. Not only this has enabled the young graduates to build up the rapport with the business community, but it has ensured high employability for them after graduation.

BSc in Software Engineering [Hons]

The Software Engineering degree is a four year full time course. It contains years years of theoretical studies, one year practical experience in the industry and the final year the students get back to full time studies. At the third year the students are given industrial placements which again, will ensure their high employability and give them experience in a real work environment.

The MBA Programme

IIHE provides one of Sri Lanka’s finest MBA programmes. IIHE has recognised the market needs and time limitations of the professionals and offered the MBA program during weekdays and weekends where they can attend at their convenience. This has evoked very good response from the students and the MBA programme has a popular choice of CEOs, top managers etc.

Educational requirements and payment methods

For the undergraduate courses, the students need to complete their Advanced Level and for the MBA program they have to be either a student with a basic degree, a student with a professional qualification such as CIMA, CIM etc. or a student with five years of professional experience at a managerial level.The payment methods at IIHE are very flexible. The students have three options to make their payments, i.e. pay the complete course fee at once, make the payments on a semester basis or pay on every other month.
