The facilities that are provided by the job bank are entirely free of charge and the youth are directed to fulfil the manpower requirements of the private sector. The opening of the job bank was attended by representatives of leading mercantile organisation who came forward with their requirements of manpower. The event organisers facilitated the immediate Interaction of prospective employees with employers present, which resulted in interviews being conducted in the same instance, and the immediate recruitment of employees taking place. The Deputy Minister addressed the gathering and said: “Today’s youth should be prudent enough to keep themselves occupied even with an entry-level job and begin life’s journey as against being without gainful employment.” He also stressed that some of today’s biggest employers began their path to prosperity as entry level employees. “Don’t try to reach for the sky at once. One should start small and move forward with determination and courage to achieve one’s goals,” he said. He emphasised that after completing education, one should be ashamed only if one is depending on their parents and someone else in society for dependence. “This is the best time to change the age old thinking patterns of the young generation and embrace change,” he said. He added: “Any government cannot provide government jobs at any given time to each and every person”. Today, we cannot underestimate the contribution made by the private sector in providing employment to bridge the gap of unemployment in this country. Grero concluded by saying that even in the private sector one can reach lofty heights if one works with determination and commitment.
