LAUGFS Higher Education Services Ltd. (LAHES) has recently partnered with the prestigious Australian Technical & Management College (ATMC), offering recognised Australian undergraduate programs in the business management, hospitality management and electronics and telecommunications fields to students in Sri Lanka.

The programs are specially designed for students who successfully complete the GCE A Level and O Level examinations, and consist of Foundation, Diploma, Advanced Diploma and Degree level qualifications. These courses are of standard 10 months (approximately) duration as per the AQF (Australian Qualification Framework).

The students can complete the degree in less than three years after “A” Levels and less than four years after “O” levels. The students would be studying the same courses as their counterparts in Australia. The course curriculum is strictly as per the Australian standards. Students following these courses would additionally have the option of either completing the entire course in Sri Lanka or completing the final year in Australia. Students can become world class professionals by the age of 21.

The official signing of the MOU by Murali Prakash, Executive Director of LAUGFS Holdings and Professor G. Bajwa, Managing Director of ATMC Sri Lanka, took place recently at the LAUGFS Head office in Colombo 04. W.K.H. Wegapitiya – Group Chairman of LAUGFS Holdings, Thilak De Silva – Group Managing Director of LAUGFS Holdings, Hector Perera – GM/CEO of LAHES and Minnell Vanderpoorten, Vice President of ATMC Sri Lanka were also present at the occasion.

“Of the 200,000 or so students who sit for the GCE Advanced level examination in Sri Lanka, only around 11% qualify to enter the national universities. While some students have the privilege of continuing their further studies abroad, a greater number of students are unable to gain access to a recognised education qualification due to the lack of affordable and high quality education options. By partnerships such as this with world renowned universities, we provide youth in Sri Lanka with affordable access to pursue their higher studies in Sri Lanka, while earning internationally recognised university qualifications,” Hector Perera remarked.

ATMC is a reputed Australian educational institute with campuses located in Geelong, Melbourne and Sydney, Australia, an offshore campus in Colombo, Sri Lanka and a teaching location in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
